Chef-patron of Copenhagen-based restaurant Noma, René Redzepi, took a moment to meet with legendary Japanese sushi chef Jiro Ono of the Jiro Dreams of Sushi documentary; while overseeing the Noma Mandarin Oriental pop-up in Tokyo. Jiro who has become more prominent since the release of the documentary, has had the pleasure of serving President Barack Obama in his tiny Tokyo restaurant Sukiyabashi Jiro, which boasts full capacity every night in addition to the long waiting list for diners every month.
The short video titled “Jiro Ono and René Redzepi Have a Cup of Tea” show the charming encounter with the 90 year old sushi chef, which took place inside the famed restaurant in Tokyo’s Ginza neighborhood.
