Courtesy of WWD today, reports came in that Balenciaga and parent company Kering have decided not to renew Creative Director Alexander Wang’s contract with the fashion house. The spring 2016 Paris Fashion Week show on October 2 will be Wang’s last at the helm of the French label, and a search is currently underway for his successor. This follows on from news of talks between Alexander Wang and Balenciaga, that Wang planned to leave the brand to focus on his eponymous label. Wang joined Balenciaga in December 2012, replacing Nicolas Ghesquiere who left to work at Louis Vuitton.

Below are official statements from both parties.

“It’s been an incredible experience to work with a couture house in Paris. I am honoured to have had the opportunity to work for this historical maison. I would like to thank the brilliant team at Balenciaga for their collaboration and for what we have accomplished together, and I am looking forward to taking my own brand to its next level of growth,
