Just in time for summer, Mercedes-AMG has taken the wraps off the new GT S Roadster. The convertible sports car is positioned somewhere between the current GT and GT C in terms of performance and price.
The Mercedes-AMG GT S Roadster boasts a powerful AMG 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine, which cranks out 522 hp and 494 lb-ft of torque. The car is also capable of reaching a top speed of 308 km/h, with an acceleration of 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds.
“With the AMG GT S Roadster, our AMG GT family has gained another exceptionally sporty member that combines high driving dynamics with an emotional open-air experience,” says Tobias Moers, Chairman of Mercedes-AMG GmbH. “The new model represents the perfect alternative for the performance-oriented AMG GT Roadster customer.”
The AMG GT S Roadster is equipped with the AMG RIDE CONTROL suspension with adaptive damping adjustment as standard. Furthermore, the driver is able to set the open-air sports car to his/her requirements using the AMG DYNAMIC SELECT controller, which allow a broad range of driving experiences – from comfortable to very sporty.
The GT S roadster also feature an electronically controlled rear differential to improve traction and enhance cornering capability, an AMG high-performance composite brake system, an AMG radiator grille, and an AIRPANEL active air management system that features vertical louvers that open and close electronically to reduce drag and enhance cooling.
The Mercedes-AMG GT S Roadster is available to order now, and the market launch starts from July 2018.
