The Macallan Unveils the 72 Years Old in Lalique Scotch Whisky

Fresh off the opening of its new $255 million USD distillery in Scotland, The Macallan announces its oldest whisky to date, the 72 Years Old in Lalique. This exceptionally rare whisky is presented in a unique and bespoke crystal decanter and presentation box inspired by the outstanding architecture of the new distillery.

Macallan Master Distiller, Nick Savage, had this to say: “For its seventy-two years of maturation, the deceptively light color hints that this is not an ordinary single malt. Reminiscent of a time gone by, it carries an exquisite balance of strong, sweet oak with the peaty spirit shaping its refined character. The whisky delivers surprise afters surprise as aromas of fruit follow distinctive hints of peat, all the way through to the back of the mouth where it is finished off with a lingering hint of rich fruit and oak. Although delicate throughout all aspects, it provides an intense experience which acknowledges the distinguished history of The Macallan.”

Only 600 individually numbered 700ml decanters will be available, and the limited-edition run is expected to retail for around $60,000 USD per decanter this August. For further details head over to Macallan’s official website.
